Instead of a T5W post this week (I wasn’t feeling the prompt ๐),ย I thought I’d share all the books I want to read before 2017 rolls around. I did a similar post like this last year, so I thought I’d do it again. I loved coming back to it and crossing off all the books. I may not get to read all of them but if I can get a few off, that will be a few less books on my TBR.
1. Nevernight
All I really know about this, is that it’s about a girl named Mia who goes to an assassin school, and who is also plotting to avenge her family’s killer. When I heard that synopsis, I immediately pre-ordered it. I can’t wait to read it.
I’ve had my eye on this trilogy ever since it came out, but because I hate the wait between books, I’ve been waiting for the last book to get a release date so I could read them close together.
The main plot revolves around a 19 year old queen whose come back to reclaim her kingdom. I’ve heard some mixed things, so hopefully I’ll end up liking it.
Another series I’ve put off reading because I don’t want it to end. I honestly don’t know why I alway do this to myself? Anyway, moving on. ๐
I am excited to see how it all concludes. I loved all the other books in the series (well, except maybe the first). And once I’m done with TMI, I can then finally move onto Lady Midnight.
4. Truthwitch
When the mixed reviews of Truthwitch came in, I do have to say I was kinda intrigued. It seems like such a polarising book; I’m interested to see where I fall.
This another book I don’t know much about, other than fact it’s about two witches who are the best of friends.
5. Jane Eyre
ย I hardly ever read classics. So on my quest to read at least one classic this year, I’ve picked Jane Eyre off my TBR. Despite classics being slightly hard to read, I am looking forward to starting it. All I need now, is just some time to hunker down with it.
6. Twelve Kings
This a fairly new fantasy series which I haven’t seen many people talk about it. The few blogs and booktube channels that have mentioned it, made it sound amazing.
It follows a young woman who lives in a city calledย Sharakhai which is ruled by twelve kings. One night she discovers some secrets about said kings as well as about her own heritage. And basically the story goes on from there (I think?).
It’s gotten some stellar reviews. So fingers crossed it doesn’t let me down
I got this for my birthday and I have been wanting to read it ever since. But as you all know there are books that come along that take your fancy more and others that go on the back-burner, which was what happened here.
This is an urban fantasy set in the 1800s in London, following Lady Helen as she hunts demons. I’mย currently reading it at the moment and its been really good so far.
I read the first book in this series, An Ember in the Ashes, fairly recently. It exceeded my expectations, and now I have high hopes for the sequel. If its anything like the first, its gonna be one hell of a ride.
What are the books you wanna read by the end of the year? I’d love to know. ๐
As always, thanks for reading.

Great tbr! ๐๐
I hope you enjoy Jane Eyre, it’s probably my favourite classic after Pride and Prejudice (Frankenstein is pretty great too).

Thanks! ๐ I started it the other day and I’m really enjoying it so far. Jane is a really interesting character, so I’m looking forward to reading the rest. P + P is my favourite classic too. I haven’t read Frankenstein though, so that’s another book to add to the TBR. ๐๐

Nice list ^^ I still want to read Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor. More Steven Erikson, Brandon Sanderson and I really want to re-read/finish the Bernard Cornwell series (Saxon stories) ๐ too many books and not enough time :’)

Isn’t that always the case? There’s like never enough time to do it all. ๐ฉ
I really enjoyed Dreams of Gods and Monsters when I read it. It was a solid finale in my opinion, so I hope you enjoy it too. ๐
I desperately wanna read more Sanderson too. I haven’t read a single one of his books this year which is a crime. ๐ I’ve wanted to read some Steven Erikson but the huge scope of his series is so intimidating. ๐ฌ
While I haven’t read the Saxon Stories, I have watched the TV adaptation and really enjoyed that. So this might be another series I need to start.
Good luck with list. ๐

You should definitely read the Saxon Stories! I think the series is not that great really, but that’s always the thing when you’ve read the books first. I hope you like those books as much as I do ^^

I hope so too. It’ll be interesting to see how they compare to another.

Good luck with your TBR! I really hope you enjoy Jane Eyre, it’s my all time favourite classic. A book that I definitely NEED to read this year is A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab. For some reason I haven’t read it yet, even though everyone is recommending it to me all the time. And I would also like to start A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin – I don’t want to set myself the goal of actually finishing it, as it literary takes me months to read one of his books. ๐

Thank you. โบ๏ธ I’m gonna add onto everyone else and say, you have to read it. ๐ It’s unbelievably good and Schwab’s writing is ๐. I do hope you enjoy it, its one of my favourite books.
I was the same with ASOIAF series. It would take me forever to finish one book but they’re so worth it. A Storm of Swords is my second favourite in the series. SO MUCH goes down. Hope you enjoy. ๐

I’m sure I will enjoy it, as I have LOVED everything else that I have read by Schwab. ๐ (Seriously don’t know why I haven’t picked this book up yet!)
They really are worth it, even though it’s frustrating how long it takes to finish one of them. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed it that much – it makes me look forward to reading it even more now! ๐
